Samantha was the unofficial mascot of the department who would attend many of the department functions. It wasn't that the department made Sam the mascot, it was that Sam allowed us into her happy, loving life. Samantha would say the Pledge to the Flag during every meeting, greet everyone who visited the department with her famous singing hello and of course that good old shake of the paw. Sam was the most asked for "being" at the fire house with children of all ages stopping in to say hello to her and rub her belly.       Samantha came to me as a rescue dog  with some major health issues and a severly broken rear right leg. Unfortunatly some of those issues caught up with her way to early, a week before Samantha's 9th birthday, 03/30/2010, she was laid to rest while in my arms. Samantha & I were always there for each other, for both the good days and the bad, I never let her know that this was one of my worst days of my life.         In this photo Samantha escorts Santa and the Baltic Fire Engine Company # 1 through out Baltic December 2008.
